Germany - Berlin

Refreshed by the five and half hour ferry trip from Sweden we landed 2100 hours and headed south.  Lloydy considered driving to Berlin but found himself night blind without road cat-eyes so plan B it was.

A quiet overnight courtesy of SatNav co-ordinates from the Campervan Guide and we headed 210 kms south via 'A' roads.  Cally behaved herself getting us safely to Spandau so we gave her four days off and stayed with friends.

First tourist destination Olympiastadion.  This site is etched into childhood memories - shrouded with images of Hitler, Nazism in its infancy, Jessie Owens and the great Jack Lovelock.  Mrs L was very proud to see NZ well represented around the stadium (now used mostly as football venue plus Berlin stage of Diamond League - Athletics).

Day two was spent in Berlin city centre - with our guide we caught the underground and ambled through the best eating spots the city has.  Memorable sites include 'The Blue Church', Brandenberg Gate, Berlin Wall, Reishstadt, the 'Pregnant Oyster' and a street with Mrs L's birthday!

Gernamic face off!

Despite the serious nature of being a tourist we found time to play!

We kept up the visits around dynamic Berlin for two more days and thank our host Glen and Brig for keeping Mrs L well supplied with wurst, drink and the lovely comfortable bed!
